With an attendance of more than 300 people drawing from 36 different African countries, the\u00a02015 African Achievers Awards<\/span>, held on Saturday the 25th of July 2015, at the premier Sandton Convention Centre in South Africa was a glamorous red carpet occasion with many esteemed guests present. The 2015 African Achievers Awards were off to a good start. They were joined on the stage by the beautiful South African radio presenter Penny Ndlovu.<\/p>\n

“With legends such as Bob-Manuel Udokwu and John Fashanu as co-hosts…”<\/i><\/h2>\n

The African Achievers Awards was started in order to recognize individuals and organizations who have distinguished themselves in their contribution towards the growth and development of Africa. This year\u2019s awards included;\u00a0Organization of the Year, Organization Making a Difference in Africa, Excellence in Leadership, Africa Artist of the Year, Award for Good Governance, TV Personality of the Year<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0Young African of the Year<\/i>\u00a0to name a few.<\/p>\n

Upon walking into the ballroom, you were immediately hypnotized by the glitz and glamour of what the evening entailed.<\/p>\n

Highlights of the evening included opening entertainment from a talented bass player, a trio of proudly South African performers and a mesmerizing speech by the motivational and guest speaker\u00a0Pastor Ike Nwanze<\/i>\u00a0of the KICCSA. He had the audience captivated by his thoughts on the potential that Africa holds as the last and most anticipated frontier.<\/p>\n

Among the esteemed guests and awardees present on the evening was,\u00a0Your Excellency, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso<\/i>\u00a0of Kano State. On the evening, the Senator was congratulated and recognised with the African Achievers Award for Good Governance. He humbly received his award and shared the glory and the stage with his dedicated team.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs for Tanzania,\u00a0Dr Asha-Rose Migiro<\/i>\u00a0was also present to receive an award for Good Governance on behalf of her president,\u00a0Mr Kikwete<\/i>. More awardees included;\u00a0Diamond Platnumz<\/i>\u00a0who received the African Achievers Award for Africa Artist of the Year. He is best known for his hit song\u00a0\u201cNumber One\u201d<\/i>\u00a0.This is not the first award Diamond has won, also in 2015, he won the MTV Africa Music Award for\u00a0\u201cBest Live Act”.<\/i><\/p>\n

Rachel Bakam<\/i>\u00a0from the spectacular show\u00a0Trends and Rachel<\/i>\u00a0received the African Achievers Award for\u00a0\u201cBest TV personality of the Year\u201d<\/i>\u00a0in the Tourism category. She looked glamorous in her green and gold mermaid style fitted dress and was more than elated to receive her award.<\/p>\n

“Ambassador Benett spoke highly of African Women…”<\/i><\/h2>\n

\"\"lso present and a recipient of a prestigious award was the remarkable\u00a0Ambassador Erieka Bennett<\/i>\u00a0who is the Convening Founder and Head of Mission of the African Diasporan Forum. During her acceptance speech Ambassador Bennett spoke highly of the African Women and how many women were being celebrated on the night.<\/p>\n

VIP Express Tourism Limited came out triumphant once again, receiving the African Achievers Award for\u00a0\u201cOrganisation Making a Difference in Africa”<\/i>, for the second year in a row. Apart from receiving an award,\u00a0VIP Express Tourism Limited<\/i>\u00a0along with\u00a0Nowahala Tours<\/i>\u00a0were proud partners and title sponsors of this glamorous evening.<\/p>\n

The\u00a02015 African Achievers Awards<\/span>\u00a0proved once again to be a dazzling evening of recognition to those individuals and organizations who are adding value to Africa. The future of Africa looks bright and the potential is ever rising.
