With an attendance of more than 300 people drawing from 36 different African countries, the 2015 African Achievers Awards, held on Saturday the 25th of July 2015, at the premier Sandton Convention Centre in South Africa was a glamorous red carpet occasion with many esteemed guests present. The 2015 African Achievers Awards were off to a good start. They were joined on the stage by the beautiful South African radio presenter Penny Ndlovu.

The African Achievers Awards was started in order to recognize individuals and organizations who have distinguished themselves in their contribution towards the growth and development of Africa. This year’s awards included; Organization of the Year, Organization Making a Difference in Africa, Excellence in Leadership, Africa Artist of the Year, Award for Good Governance, TV Personality of the Year and Young African of the Year to name a few.
Upon walking into the ballroom, you were immediately hypnotized by the glitz and glamour of what the evening entailed.
Highlights of the evening included opening entertainment from a talented bass player, a trio of proudly South African performers and a mesmerizing speech by the motivational and guest speaker Pastor Ike Nwanze of the KICCSA. He had the audience captivated by his thoughts on the potential that Africa holds as the last and most anticipated frontier.
Among the esteemed guests and awardees present on the evening was, Your Excellency, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State. On the evening, the Senator was congratulated and recognised with the African Achievers Award for Good Governance. He humbly received his award and shared the glory and the stage with his dedicated team.
The Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs for Tanzania, Dr Asha-Rose Migiro was also present to receive an award for Good Governance on behalf of her president, Mr Kikwete. More awardees included; Diamond Platnumz who received the African Achievers Award for Africa Artist of the Year. He is best known for his hit song “Number One” .This is not the first award Diamond has won, also in 2015, he won the MTV Africa Music Award for “Best Live Act”.
Rachel Bakam from the spectacular show Trends and Rachel received the African Achievers Award for “Best TV personality of the Year” in the Tourism category. She looked glamorous in her green and gold mermaid style fitted dress and was more than elated to receive her award.

lso present and a recipient of a prestigious award was the remarkable Ambassador Erieka Bennett who is the Convening Founder and Head of Mission of the African Diasporan Forum. During her acceptance speech Ambassador Bennett spoke highly of the African Women and how many women were being celebrated on the night.
VIP Express Tourism Limited came out triumphant once again, receiving the African Achievers Award for “Organisation Making a Difference in Africa”, for the second year in a row. Apart from receiving an award, VIP Express Tourism Limited along with Nowahala Tours were proud partners and title sponsors of this glamorous evening.
The 2015 African Achievers Awards proved once again to be a dazzling evening of recognition to those individuals and organizations who are adding value to Africa. The future of Africa looks bright and the potential is ever rising. In the words of Pastor Ike Nwanze, “Africa it is our time to shine”.
